LOUIS DUMAS    MSt, MSc, B.A

My Story

For more than three decades, I’ve had the privilege of serving Canada across the globe — from Moscow to Cairo, Tel Aviv to Beijing — leading with purpose through some of the world’s most challenging moments. My career began with a simple belief: that leadership is about people, not positions.

That belief guided me as I helped shape Canada’s foreign relations during times of crisis — from the dissolution of the Soviet Union to the aftermath of 9/11 — and later as Ambassador to Egypt, where I worked alongside an extraordinary team to advance peace, human rights, and development.

Whether managing national operations at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada or championing the welfare of Canadians abroad, I’ve always sought to inspire transformation through empathy, ethics, and innovation. My studies at Oxford in Practical Ethics and my lifelong commitment to learning continue to shape how I see leadership: as an act of service grounded in humanity.

Today, I share my experience and insights to help others lead with clarity, courage, and compassion — because meaningful change begins when we choose to serve with purpose.
